Road Trip Series – Doncaster

Today we kicked off our Road Trip Series journey in the stylish BMW 118i Hatch, with a visit to Doncaster Westfield to check out the designer InHabit space, which launched earlier this month.

Flexicar is a membership-based carshare company based right here in Melbourne, providing locals and visitors with convenient, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable access to a car without needing to personally own one. If you missed my first Road Trip Series (South Melbourne) post, you can check it out here.

Westfield Doncaster is the ultimate Melbourne shopping destination with the latest Australian and international stores, delicious dining and loads of entertainment. The centre is an easy drive from Melbourne’s CBD along the Eastern Freeway and was the perfect journey to enjoy some tunes in my spunky Flexicar Beemer.

Browsing through the radio stations on the visual display was easy and importantly safe while driving. Flexicar supply a multimedia cable in all their vehicles, so you can plug in your own phone or device to set the mood with your own music genre.

For a shopping experience that’s convenient and hassle-free, I would highly recommend Westfield Doncaster‘s Valet Parking service. Accessible via Williamsons Road near Myer (on level 2), the Valet Parking is safe, convenient and time saving – drive up to the door and let the fabulous concierge team take care of the rest.

Some parking fees do apply, but it’s well worth the red carpet experience. Plus if you shop up a storm, the team are only to happy too get all your goods to your car, while you head back in for some more retail therapy or a bite and some coffee.

InHabit is a stand-alone retail experience on Level 1 at Westfield Doncaster and has launched with one of my favourite designer labels, Ellery.

The InHabit space was designed by Melbourne architect Matthew Herbert and will act as a gallery and retail space, for shoppers to view, engage with and purchase fashion and accessories from the residing designer.

Future tenants include Dion Lee and Romance Was Born, with each designer in residence for a maximum of six weeks.

Before heading back to the carpark, a quick Joy Cupcakes pit stop was definitely necessary. What can I say, I’m a sucker for an amazing cupcake!

Located on Level 2 at Westfield Doncaster (near Country Road), Joy cupcakes are made from the purest ingredients and are created by some of Melbourne’s finest pastry chefs. Baked fresh daily, they specialise in gluten free, nut free and even vegan flavour options – deliciousness for everyone.

Torn between ‘Chocolate on Chocolate’ and ‘Orange with Popcorn’, I did what any girl in the situation would have done and snapped up both (ok, two of both, but I promise they weren’t all for me. Promise!)

The drive back into the CBD to the Flexicar pod on Exhibition Street took about 20 minutes.

With any Flexicar share vehicle, you simply return it to the same location from where you collected it, with at least ¼ tank of petrol (fuel cards are supplied in your car) at the end of your booking. Super easy. Super fast.

To celebrate Melbourne Girl teaming up with Flexicar and their expansion into the digital community, Flexicar members can enjoy 15% off hourly bookings (weekdays only).

Stay tuned for my next ‘Road Trip Series‘ instalment on Melbourne Girl.
