Good Beer Week: Melbourne Girls’ Top 5

Girl Power: Women and Beer

Sunday 15th May, 3.00pm – late

Always one to support our fierce female counterparts, this event immediately caught the eye of Melbourne Girl. Girl Power will see the taps at The Fox Hotel taken over by the best female brewers AND the venue erupt with its annual kick ass party. Featuring local music talent, awesome beers on tap, great conversations and some questionable antics, this FREE event will make for a great Sunday session during the opening festival week.

Rodenbach, Cheese, Opera and a Church – A Heavenly Match

Monday 16th May, 6.00pm – 10.00pm

It’s not everyday that you get to indulge in decadent cheeses, crisp cold ales and a live operatic serenade beneath the stained glass windows of St. Stephen’s Church.  This event is truly like no other and is one not to be missed!

Guests will enjoy six of the finest beers within the Rodenbach range paired back with an exclusive selection of decadent cheeses, produced by Yarra Valley Dairy.  Evening entertainment will include some of Australia’s finest opera performers including dramatic contralto Liane Keegan who has curated the performance and will be pairing the beers & cheeses to a divine range of arias. With tickets priced at only $69, it would be a sin to miss this one.

Cooking with Craft Beer Masterclass

Tuesday 17th May, 6.00pm – late

Here you’ll learn to master techniques far superior to the old ‘beer can inside the chicken’ trick. Hatted chef Daniel Wilson of the ever-expanding Huxtaburger, will combine with Wolf of the Willows to walk you through cooking their favourite dishes prepared and matched with craft beer

This is a hands on event where you’ll cook and eat a three course fine dining meal prepared with Wolf of the Willows beers. Get up and personal as you learn expert techniques to marinate, brine, baste, batter, blanch, braise, broil, caramalise, and grill with craft beer. The full range of Wolf of the Willows beers is included as part of the experience, including rare and limited releases, which makes the $129 ticket price more palatable.

Feral Beer Cocktail Degustation, Eau De Vie

Wednesday 18th May, 7.00pm – 10.00pm

As soon as we saw those three little words ‘Eau De Vie’, we knew this was an event for Melbourne Girl. In conjunction with Feral brewing, one of our favourite boutique cocktail bars invites you on a journey of flavour where you’ll enjoy a five-course dinner matched with five extravagant beer cocktails. Shaken and stirred with Feral’s award winning brews, the cocktails will ignite the taste buds and will be perfectly offset with morsels of deliciousness. Tickets are $175… go on, treat yourself.

Chop and Ale, Half Moon

Saturday 21st May, 12.00pm – late

We love the sound of a farmers market cross food truck festival, thrown in with beer awards for equal measure. Resident Brewery, Colonial Brewing Co, will challenge visiting brewery, Young Henry’s, for best beer awards and the acclaimed Iron Brewery.

This super cool (and FREE) event will come complete with barbers and a tattoo artist, as well as live music, all day entertainment and performances showcased from the big stage located at the back alley of the hotel.

The first annual beard and moustache championships will also be held and vintage motorcycles will be showcased throughout the venue… swoon!
