Matcha Facial comes to South Yarra

We’re Matcha mad here at Melbourne Girl. We’ve been known to sip on a Matcha latte, enjoy a Matcha breakfast bowl, nosh on a Matcha bar and even indulge in a Matcha burger but this week we trialled the magical green tea powder in a completely new way; a Matcha facial!

Natural Beauty Expert, Belinda Hughes, has just introduced the new treatment to her South Yarra clinic and explained “Matcha is a green tea superfood full of antioxidants for skin brightening and anti aging. It’s proving to be just as popular in facials as it is in many Melbourne cafes.”

We were intrigued and I was lucky enough to be one of the first to try it!

Matcha Tea

Skincare Clinic

Belinda tailors every treatment to your individual skincare needs (gotta love that) and started the facial with a gentle double cleanse followed by an AHA Peel. I found the Peel had a bit of a tingling sensation, which is not surprising as it’s used to remove dead skin cells and ultimately make the skin smoother…. Tingle away skin!

Next, my skin was exfoliated and the highly anticipated, highly concentrated Vitamin C and Matcha Green Tea mask applied. The mask is prepared at the start of the treatment and is recognisable by its brilliant green colouring. Matcha contains 137 times more antioxidants than green tea and treats pigmentation while evening out skin tone. Once applied to the skin, it is oh so soothing.

Now, the difference between a ‘good’ and ‘great’ facial is all in the massage and Belinda did not disappoint in this department. Whilst the Mask melted into my skin, Belinda massaged my scalp, hands and arms and for a moment there, I swear I died and went to heaven.

After the mask, a gorgeous silky serum was massaged into the skin followed by an eye cream and moisturiser. Belinda uses all organic products, which she describes as being ‘packed with active ingredients’ and ‘more potent’ and than regular skincare – after having experienced it for myself, I’m definitely buying what she’s selling!

Facial

Matcha Smoothies

After the facial, my skin felt so soft and dewy and my complexion appeared more luminous and even. With a few dabs of Organic Spa’s beauty balm, I didn’t need any makeup for my dinner out and my husband even commented on how good my skin looked. It’s fair to say I’m a Matcha facial convert and I can’t recommend the Natural Beauty Expert enough!

I’ve never had a facial, but this sounds amazing. I’d love to feel luminous as we head towards summer! x

Sounds amazing! I’ve been struggling with my health this year & it’s taken its toll on my skin – a matcha facial would do just the trick 🙂

I would love the chance to pamper my skin. A few months ago I was diagnosed with serve depression. Everyday has been a challenge and I have felt like I have lost apart of myself. I have been working so hard on healing so taking care of my skin and appearance is the last thing I have had the energy for. Would be a nice treat in a dark time. Good luck to everybody and stay strong x

My skin is starting to have some little bumps and things due to season change and the erratic Melbourne weather, superfood is of course needed to supercharge my skin to a better condition, prepping myself for Spring and all the upcoming parties 🙂 🙂

I am now 45 years old and have noticed changes in my skin… changes that I don’t want to be happening lol! So as I look after my body with healthier foods, it is also time to look after my face with healthier foods. 🙂

Escaping for over an hour of superfood full of antioxidants for skin brightening and anti aging facial sounds as beneficial as a relaxing tropical island vacation.

My tummy’s not great at absorbing vitamins, so poor health shows on my skin. A facial would get the goodies right where they are needed!

Coming from South Africa, I always look forward to visiting my brother in Melbourne (this December and January :)) for two reasons. One, because he lives far and I miss him. Two, because that is also when I see, taste, feel, hear and smell all that is new and happening on the other side of the pond and a matcha facial sounds like something I definitely want to try once in my life!

I love Matcha when I first tried it in Japan three years ago. Due to the dirtiness of the city air in Melbourne, I have the feeling that my face gets more and more spots. Having a Matcha facial treatment would be really perfect.

Greetings from Anny in St Kilda

I am a working mum to three kids. Im so busy that most of the time I do the absolute minimum for you skin. Sometimes I don’t think I have changed much and then I see a photo and think ‘wow I look old’. My skin could really do with this. Thanks

I needed it because my face is full of dirt and rubbish from the dull winter and exam stress and it would be fabulous to start spring or summer with a matcha facial treatment for a radiant face.

I recently returned from a work trip to China and the humidity and pollution really affected my skin causing breakouts, so my face really needs some superfood to get it feeling fresh and clean again.

It would help revive me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The better I feel, the more I’m able to engage fully with my life and my relationships. A good pampering session would balance me from the inside out, refreshing, relaxing and rejuvenating me, making me happier and saner!
