Lola Berry’s Happy Place café shines in Summer

When the name of a café is Happy Place, you know only good things are going to happen here. The inspiration behind this healthy café is nutritionist, Lola Berry, who is driven by empowering people to find a happy place within themselves.

Last week Lola Berry launched the new summer (yes, it is around the corner apparently!) menu for Happy Place café in South Melbourne. As expected it is full of happy, healthy dishes that will make you smile.

The tasting was held at the uber cool Smalls Bar in South Melbourne, which has a small wine producers focus and the sophistication of a Parisian wine bar.  The stunning room was lined with fresh, white blooms and fairy lights sparkling from above.

To start with we were presented with the most delicious Wild Kombucha mocktail, with ginger, strawberries, pomegranate and mint. Kombucha is traditionally a fermented, lightly effervescent, sweetened black tea.   It is non-alcoholic and filled with healthy probiotics, so is a great substitute for alcohol on your alcohol free days.

Lola Berry’s wild version is delicious, not too sweet and not too sour so just right. The good news is that this amazing kombucha is on tap at Happy Place!  This delicious drink was paired with a yummy bowl of fibre boosting avocado hummus and vitamin A and antioxidant rich super purple carrots.

The famous Byron Bay smoothie was next to arrive. If you haven’t tried this, you need to rush to Happy Place to give it a go. This is truly Byron Bay in a glass! It is a scrumptious mix of coconut water, pineapple, chia and raspberry.

Then the Happy Place team launched in with a black, charcoal smoothie and an amazing omega-3 packed seared tuna on top of a nutritious coleslaw with a hint of wasabi.

My favourite dish of the night was the succulent protein punching poached chicken, served with zucchini noodles smothered in delicious fresh pesto.  If you are looking for a sweet treat, then you have to try the raw slices which are nutritious and full of flavour.

Happy Place is a perfect healthy retreat where you will find on-the-go meals, snacks, smoothies and juices.

Enjoy!
