10 things you need to survive White Night Melbourne

White Night Melbourne

Think you’re ready to hit the town for the dusk ‘till dawn festival that is White Night? Think again.

Whether you’re heading to White Night Melbourne or Ballarat (or both!) Melbourne Girl has come up with a survival kit to keep you going until the early hours of the morning – or longer, if your heart so desires.

10 things you need to survive White Night

10 things you need to survive White Night

  1. Camera and Phone (Camera Phone)

Now is not the time to bust out your vintage Nokia 3350. You need a phone that has a camera and an internet connection, because let’s be honest, you’re going to be Instagramming the hell out of White Night. For some more epic shots, pack your DSLR as well. Just remember it might get heavy after a while.

  1. Portable Charger

Either charge your phone right before you leave home or carry a portable charger along with you. You’ll be hating on yourself if you start your Snapchat story and your phone decides to cark it. It’ll be like White Night never happened. Oh the indignity!

  1. Warmth

It’s the early hours of the morn. Chances are it’s going to be cold. Bring a poncho and umbrella in case it rains (because our whether is quite unpredictable) and rug up with a beanie and scarf.

  1. Comfortable Shoes

You’ll be walking up and down the city streets, so it’s a no-brainer that you need comfortable walking shoes. In fact, don’t stop at the shoes – make sure you’re sporting comfort crown-to-toe.

  1. Snacks

A survival kit is nothing without high protein, carb-loaded snacks to keep you fuelled. Think nuts, crackers, cheese, and a piece of fruit or two – something to munch on as you stand in awe.

  1. Water Bottle

As previously mentioned, you’ll be standing, walking, and admiring a lot. You need to keep hydrated. Nothing more needs to be said.

  1. Panadol

Because you never know if a headache might decide to present itself at 4 in the morning.

  1. Energy drinks

Stock up on some Red Bull or Monster and you should be right to welcome the sunrise. As long as you have (6) and (7) in tow, you’re good to go.

  1. Sunnies

If you’re planning to catch the sun(rise), then throw a pair of sunnies in the kit for good measure.

  1. Money

There will be plenty of eateries that are set to be open throughout the night so don’t forget to carry some coin with you. After all, every experience is better with food.
