Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa

I can think of two words to perfectly describe my recent visit to the heavenly Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa… pure bliss. The historic centre is nestled deep in Australia’s Spa Country just a short drive from Daylesford in Victoria’s west.

My partner and I were finally making use of a Christmas voucher when we ventured to the region for a day of pure relaxation. Despite a winter chill being well and truly present in the countryside air our midweek jaunt was a wonderful, and warm, experience.

Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa

Upon our arrival we were in awe of the bathhouse’s low-lying profile, shrouded between towering trees, the sprawling property appears to be something of an architect’s dream straight from an episode of Grand Designs.

We started our stay with a dip in the mineral waters of the perfectly heated 32°c Relaxation Pool. Lounge about we did before moving through to the bathhouse’s more exclusive Sanctuary zone. If you’d like to make full use of the available services then this side of the facility is a must visit.

Now this is where things started to get seriously soothing. In the Sanctuary you’re simply spoilt for choice. How does a session in an Aroma Steam Room sound? Or a swim in a Salt Therapy Pool? You can even kick back and relax in your very own Spa Lounge, yes that’s a reclining seat in the spa, and meander under a Monsoon Shower with the temperature set just to your liking.

Despite the obvious appeal of the spa lounges I particularly loved lazing around and passing the time in the Sanctuary’s Salt Therapy Pool. This room is framed as the epicentre of the facility with its concrete cone piercing through the ceiling to reveal a subtle glimpse of the reality you left behind outside.

I could have quite gladly watched the clouds roll by all day but alas there were facials and massages to be had in the Spa side of things. So after a couple of hours of pool hopping, that doesn’t sound so bad hey, we robed-up and headed across to our early afternoon appointments.

We were greeted warmly with a hot glass of what can only be described as a magical tea, packed full of all the health and wellness one might need in a single glass, before heading through to a couple’s room for our treatments.

The only downfall of our whole wellness experience was the fact that time inexplicably flew by during our hour-long therapy session. I was transported to newfound levels of leisure during my Pure Replenishing Facial where the stressors of day-to-day life were pulled and kneaded out of my neck and shoulders, my scalp was suitably soothed and every pressure point on my face was prodded in just the right place.

Sadly our visit then came to an end. From all reports my Mr’s full body massage was as just as magical as my experience and we’ve already got our eye on booking in our next Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa experience.
