7 awesome Rooftop Bars in Melbourne

7 awesome Rooftop Bars in Melbourne

Melbourne is a city which needs to be appreciated from above and there’s no doubt the views are best enjoyed with a cocktail or wine in hand, at one of our awesome rooftop bars.

Two of our favourite guilty pleasures are drinking and Instagram, and they sure as hell go hand-in-hand at a rooftop bar sesh. Together with some good ol’ fresh air, an afternoon ray of sunshine and of course, great vibes with friends, it makes for a memorable, repeatable way to catch up or celebrate a special occasion.

For these reasons and more, we thought we’d share some of our favourite picks from the Melbourne bar scene. So here we go…

Melbourne’s Best Rooftop Bars

ROOFTOP AT QT
** Our Top Pick**

With great vibes, great beverages (and snacks), great staff and great decor, this Rooftop Bar is our Top 2024 pick for places to get to in Melbourne!

Find it > 133 Russell Street, Melbourne
Open > Mon-Thur 3pm to late / Fri-Sun 12pm to late

GOOD HEAVENS
This is one rooftop bar which makes you feel cool just by being there. The decor is on point and the cocktails are killer. Downstairs you’ll find Fancy Hanks for a post-bar sesh bite.

Find it > 79 Bourke St, Melbourne
Open > Mon-Thur 4pm–1am / Fri-Sun 12pm–1am

SANTONI PIZZA
This rooftop was born out of a passion for Italian food and culture. With views of the whole city and the seriously on-point white stone decor, it’s an intimate space which makes it good for feeling like you’re ‘going out’ without having the big crowds and loud vibe of a standard rooftop bar/club.

Find it > 634 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn
Open > Daily until 11pm

MADAME BRUSSELLS
This one is for the teapot lovers out there who also like to indulge in a cocktail every now and then. The decor is quirky with the grass flooring, the super cool staff get around in old-school tennis whites and the views are pretty sweet. Great cheese boards and when the sun is shining, so too are the cocktail jugs on the deck.

Find it > 59 Bourke St, Melbourne
Open > Noon – 1am daily

THE PALMZ AT CARLTON CLUB
Gotta love this beach-vibed rooftop which is  located in the heart of the city 🌴 We’re talking palm trees (derrrr), bamboo trims and a thatched hut bar, The Palmz is a great place to chillax in a resort style atmosphere, and share a cocktail jug or two with your girls.

Find it > 193 Bourke Street, Melbourne
Open > Everyday, until late Friday and Saturday nights

NAKED FOR SATAN
Head here for the best views of the CBD, especially at night time. For drinks are a little on the expensive side, butour tip is to grab some pinxos if you’re hungry for a cheap snack.

Find it > 285 Brunswick St, Fitzroy
Open > Friday + Saturday 12pm-1am / Sunday to Thursday 12pm-12am

THE CNR
A long-time favourite, this hotel in Richmond has great live tunes with a fun rooftop bar and a pub grub menu.

Find it > 57 Swan St, Richmond
Open > Tue to Thu 12pm–late / Fri + Sat 12pm-3am / Sun 12pm-late

THE EMERSON
The Emerson’s rooftop is known for a cracking Melbourne party. If you’re worried about the cold, never fear… The Emerson Rooftop is completely enclosed and they’re not shy when it comes to cranking the heaters up to keep you toasty, comfortable and warm if the weather drops.

Find it > 141-145 Commercial Rd, South Yarra
