Mother’s Day is coming up this month on Sunday 13 May and if you are looking for a special way to say thanks to your Mum in Melbourne, then you’ve come to the right place.

The second Sunday in May is not far away, so be sure to book your tickets early, or plan your gifts asap to ensure your Mum gets the special thanks she deserves.

Mother’s Day Classic

The Mother’s Day Classic is an annual fun run and walk raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research, a cause which is very close to my heart.

Their aim is to deliver a fun, healthy and inspirational event which brings the community together on Mother’s Day to support and remember those touched by breast cancer. This year, my family and I are walking besides my Mum in the survivor wave and are really proud to be helping to raise money for such a great charity, as well as coming together to enjoy the walk around Alexandra Gardens and the Tan track.

Now in its 21st year, the Melbourne event has made a major contribution to breast cancer research.

Champagne Masterclass at Eastland

Treat Mum to an experience she won’t forget as Kyla Kirkpatrick takes you on a journey into the vines of France’s original home of bubbly: champagne. At the Eastland Masterclass, you’ll learn about the world’s most desirable sparkling wine, how to serve it and how it’s made during a fascinating presentation over several glasses of champagne.

In her workshops, Kyla vows to teach people – champagne lover or not – how to be a bubbles aficionado in a two-hour, action-packed, cheeky journey into the world of champagne. You can expect to learn about its sparkling history, etiquette, different styles, production techniques and more.

High Tea at The Langham, Melbourne

In celebration of the release of The Greatest Showman on DVD, The Langham’s Mother’s Day High Tea is a pretty affair not to be missed.

Make your Mum the star of the show from The Langham rooftop, enjoying panoramic views of the Melbourne skyline whilst feasting on a delicate and dainty array of petite desserts, complimented with replenished savouries, tea, coffee and a glass of sparking wine. Best of all, each Mum dining receives a copy of The Greatest Showman on DVD, so you can go home and enjoy movie night too.

The Langham is one of my favourite places in the city to enjoy High Tea and I know your Mother will love it too.

The Wizard of Oz - opening night in Melbourne

Wizard of Oz – The Musical

The Wizard of Oz is an enchanting revision of the all-time classic MGM screenplay, with all your favourite characters and iconic moments from the movie, plus a few surprises along the way, including some wonderful new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Melbourne production stars Anthony Warlow, Lucy Durack and Jemma Rix.

The Wizard of Oz opens at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on 12 May (which will make for a lovely Mother’s Day gift) and is only running for a strictly limited season, so book early!

AFL Sunday Funday

Following the successful launch of Sunday Funday three years ago, the AFL has again treated families to free junior admissions on Sunday games at the MCG and Etihad Stadium in 2018.

This Mother’s Day, the Collingwood Magpies are at home (at the MCG) against my team, the Geelong Cats, in what’s sure to be the perfect place to spoil your sports fanatic Mum. Outside the ‘G you’ll find the AFL Playground, Marvel-themed activations, entertainment, giveaways and Marvel costume characters, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Spider-Man, a sure delight for families with younger kids. So much fun!
