Weekend Staycation at The Blackman

Last week, my husband and I were treated to a weekend Staycation at The Blackman.

Part of the Art Series Hotel Group, The Blackman is situated on St Kilda Road on the City’s edge, only a short stroll away from many of Melbourne’s iconic tourist spots including the Royal Botanic Gardens, National Gallery of Victoria and Albert Park.

It’s a great Hotel for Melbourians to escape too and ideal for people visiting the city. The rooms are packed with not only artistic style, but also lots of great amenities including kitchenettes, wifi, complimentary in-room T2 Tea and coffee, as well as Bugaboo pram hire… What a fab idea for families who find it tricky to fly with a pram!

From the moment you check in you are treated to a visual delight. Adoring all the walls of the Hotel are the artistic works of Charles Blackman, an Australian painter, best known for his Alice in Wonderland series of the 1950s. The colours are incredible and are the perfect back drop to the modern fit outs.

We checked into the gorgeous ‘Alice Suite’. It has such incredible views of Albert Park Lake, the bay and even around the corner to the city skyline. Admittedly I could have sat on the balcony and just relaxed and took in the scenery for the whole stay – perfect me time!

The suite was the ideal size to prepare for a big Saturday night out and The Blackman management were only too happy to assist with ensuring we got to and from the Hotel without delays.

I called in the services of a hair and makeup styling team to help me feel spesh – read all about my Glamforce style squad here.

When Sunday morning arrived, we took advantage of a big sleep in and a kick starting coffee on the balcony. I even snuck in a soaking bath while we waited for our breakfast to be delivered hot and fresh to the room.

The Blackman is also home to an Italian restaurant and French patisserie. If you are driving to the hotel, there is on-site parking and for gym-junkies, they have you covered too with a state of the art gymnasium.
