6 reasons to head along to the AFL Footy Festival in Melbourne

This morning, the AFL Footy Festival kicked off at Yarra Park and I headed along with my family to join in on the excitement and celebration.

The four day event features delicious food trucks, pop-up bars, local DJs and heaps of fun activities for the kids, and it’s the perfect place to indulge in a serious injection of footy fever in Melbourne. This year’s Festival is set to be the biggest and best yet, so if you’re not already convinced, here are 6 reasons to head along to the AFL Footy Festival in Melbourne.

Pop-Up UberEATS restaurant

For the first time ever, UberEATS are hosting a VIP zone, where guests can enjoy access to a 140-seat restaurant, Epicure Bar, live tunes, complimentary charging stations and activities for the kids.

Festival goers can even skip the queue by using their UberEATS app, placing an order in the ‘Taste of Football’ and then collect their meals from the collection point in the UberEATS restaurant.

Melbourne’s best Food Trucks

Hands up if you love to treat yourself to some tasty food truck action like me!

Discover many of Melbourne’s best food trucks at this year’s festival including Biggie Smalls, Doughnut Time, Fancy Hank’s, Gelato Messina, Happy Camper Pizza and Ghost Kitchen.

The Ultimate Kids Zone

It’s fun central at the AFL Kids Zone where there are stacks of activities to keep little ones entertained including handball targets, hurdling inflatable crocs and NAB AFL Auskick Clinics. Kids will not only the chance to meet their favourite AFL players, but also be able to experience the AFL’s biggest-ever inflatable obstacle course – it’s an incredible 37 meters long and is the highlight at Woolworth’s AFL Playground.

Be sure to grab your child a AFL Kids Rookie Passport on entry and tick off the activities as they go to get a personalised AFL footy card.
