Are you in Melbourne, love wine, and are hunting for a chic place to catch up with your crew? We have your back ladies (and gents) – we’ve rounded up 8 gorgeous spots in and around the city to enjoy a glass (or two) of vino in style.
Never fear if your favourite place is not on the list… We are also in the process of rounding up an extended hit list #comingsoon so be sure to shout out in the comments at the bottom of this post, if you have some personal suggestions?
Otherwise, read on and cheers to a great wine spot!
8 Chic places to have a Wine in Melbourne
212 Little Collins Street,
Melbourne VIC 3000
HANA Melbourne is the place to enjoy a wine and raw seafood (and cocktails) with your girl squad. With a seriously cool tropical vibe and fresh flavours of Hawaii right here in Melbourne-town, you’ll love feasting in the chic decor under the sparkling pink neon lights.
1 Flinders Walk,
Melbourne VIC 3000
Look out past Platform 13 at Flinders Street Station and you’ll see a funky alfresco dining space that has seemingly popped up out of nowhere. Say hello to The Arbory, an outdoor eatery and bar that has breathed new life into an unremarkable stretch of the Yarra River. The 150 metre long space of timber decking that connects the Southbank footbridge with Princes Bridge, is home to a kitchen and two bars, which are housed inside a seriously cool shipping container. It is the perfect place to have a wine in the city.
Arbory Afloat is also popping up again for summer. This years ‘float’ will be bigger and better, and will officially be dubbed Melbourne’s longest bar. This is sure to be one of the chic’est pop ups of the year and the Rosé will be at the top of my vino hit list. #Roséallday
336 Maroondah Hwy,
Healesville VIC 3777
This cellar door and restaurant in Healesville is one of my favourite places in the Yarra Valley to have lunch (and dinner). Having recently moved to a new home (next door), it’s airy and industrial-chic decor makes for a chic setting to treat yourself to the best cheese platter you’ll find in greater-Melbourne, or enjoy their amazing wood-fired pizza.
Pick yourself up a glass (aka abottle) of their Pinot Gris or Pinot Noir to enjoy… They are two of my favourite drops from the region.
274 Church Street,
Richmond VIC 3121
Atlas Vinifera is a must visit for any vino aficionado! Both a wine bar and a take-home bottle shop (with hundreds of bottles on offer), the Melbourne Girl team love to pick a bottle to drink at the bar and nibble on some antipasto. And if you can’t pick from the amazing range, don’t fret – there’s a three wines degustation option available too. Who doesn’t love a “wine flight”?
44 Chapel Street,
Windsor VIC 3181
Handily located directly across from Windsor train station (responsible drinking for the win!), Lady Nelson’s is the perfect nook to satisfy even the fussiest wine connoisseur. I particularly love how many wines at Lady Nelson’s are available by the glass, so you can try that unique varietal you’ve been wondering about, without having to commit to a full bottle.
And don’t forget to try the food – how can you not love a menu that includes party pies!
212 High Street,
Prahran VIC 3181
Hold up, this is one of Melbourne’s newest wine bars and it’s something else. Neptune Wine Bar is a two level haven that boasts the finest food (check), cocktails (check) and wine (double check). The sommelier-picked wines are perfectly paired with the Mediterranean share menu and enjoyed by the fire.
101 Flinders Lane,
Melbourne VIC 3000
What’s better than an urban jungle? One that serves wine! Garden State has everything you need for your Friday tipple – an extensive wine list, an enticing menu and a beautifully designed space over four levels.
78 Chapel Street,
Windsor VIC 3181
Saint Lucia vibrates chic from it’s gorgeous interior. The venue oozes beach relaxation and is a great place to enjoy a wine and some seriously tasty share plates with friends. It’s a little slice of the Caribbean right here in Melbourne!
Be sure to order yourself a bottle of Bollinger and a Mac and Cheese Donut… don’t ask, just do!
