Sunset Safari at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Watching the Giraffes at Werribee Zoo - Sunset Safari

Last night my husband and I were treated to the ultimate Sunset Safari at Werribee Open Range Zoo, a truly unforgettable evening which also aids in the fight against wildlife extinction and supports vital international conservation partners, including the Rhino Fund Uganda.

If you are looking for your next bucket list experience in Melbourne, then the Sunset Safari is for you! The experience was unforgettable, I promise you it will be the ultimate night out with a completely authentic wildlife and cultural experience.

The evening kicked off with a glass of bubbles at the Zoo’s pop-up Sundown Bar, before we set off through the savannah in the safari bus. The guides were fantastic, super-friendly and were having just as much fun as the guests.

Getting up close and personal with some of Africa’s most impressive animals was something I’ll never forget. The majestic Southern White Rhinos, Zebras, Elands (the world’s largest antelope), Wild Horses, and my favourite, the herds of giraffes.

After the 40-minute safari, we were treated to a spectacular live African performance, which featured dancing to the rhythm and soul of drums, singing and even some acrobatics.

Next we indulged in the flavours of Africa over a shared buffet feast in the Meerkat Bistro. The menu was delicious, my favourite dish was the North African- inspired tagine, and there were yummy dips, lentil burgers, breads and a dessert table to tantalise everyone’s taste buds.
