Backstage with MECCA at MSFW Opening Gala

Last night Melbourne Girl was invited to go backstage with MECCA at Melbourne Fashion Week Opening Gala. With a nod to the structured, bold-lipped beauties of Tamara de Lempicka’s art deco paintings, this powerful and polished look is all about hyperreal luxe skin, lightly diffused eyes and a graphic statement lip in rich burgundy.

Backstage was incredible! Melbourne Town Hall screams old-world glamour and the historical injection was the ideal setting for a runway show which transported us to an other-worldly utopia. The opening runway was the perfect start to the Designer runway series.

GET THE LOOK

1. Complexion

With your hands, apply NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser to prepped and primed skin, building up coverage in the t-zone as you go. Spot conceal any areas of redness and apply a brightening under-eye concealer. Set only the t-zone with NARS Soft Velvet Loose Powder, pressed in with a powder puff to create a velvety finish without taking away the luminosity from the highest points of the face.

2. Lip

Work in a light layer of NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte with a lip brush to create shape and a stained effect. Next, sketch Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Sangria all over the lip, slightly overdrawing the top lip line. Make sure the cupid’s bow is sharp and the outer slope of the top lip slightly rounded.

Apply a mix of NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte and the more aubergine-toned NARS Audacious Lipstick in Liv with a lip brush over the top of the lip liner before cleaning up and highlighting the outer edge of the lips with YSL Touché Éclat – Radiant Touch in No. 2.

3. Contour

Sweep NARS Contour Blush in Palomaunder the cheekbones and onto the temples in circular motions for softness before using a large domed eyeshadow brush to take it through the contour of the eye and underneath the lash line. Blend everything, including the eye, with Hourglass Ambient Powder in Dim Light.

4. Eyes

Using your finger, apply RMS Eye Polish in Lunarto the centre of the eyelid. Leave lashes and brows bare for an ultra-modern finish, brushing brows upwards before setting with Surratt Brow Pomade.

5. Blush and Highlight

Take the NARS Yachiyo Brush to buff NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Jubilation across the apples of the cheeks and into the temples. Follow with a mix of NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Europa and NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Craving right under the eye, on the high point of the cheek and above the below the brow bone. This will catch the light and give the eye area an ethereal effect.

Thanks for sharing! I love seeing all the behinds the scenes stuff that goes on. How amazing is Mecca!? I’m also severely lusting over the earrings the hair stylist with the short hair is wearing!
