Following the huge popularity of its cafes and bakeries in the Melbourne CBD and Fitzroy, Rustica has recently opened a gorgeous new cafe in Hawthorn.
The new café includes all the yummy pastries and baked treats you find at their city location and many of their most popular menu items too. We also discovered a few dishes unique to Hawthorn, like the slow roasted lamb shoulder baguette marinated in rosemary and garlic, and topped with cumin yogurt, and baba ganoush served with grilled haloumi, poached eggs and greens.
The new Rustica is located on Hawthorn’s Power St underneath the Maple residential development and is the perfect place for a coffee catch up, weekend breakfasting or brunch with friends. And you can take home some of their famous sourdough (and cronuts, croissants and maybe a baked sweet or two) to get you through the week.
We popped in to suss it out and couldn’t pass up the vanilla yoghurt panna cotta with house made granola and fruit, and the coyo bircher muesli with poached pear, blueberries, pistachio and chia seeds. Both almost too pretty to devour. With plenty of natural light and greenery, we washed down our meals with their delicious coffee blend from local roasters, Rumble Coffee.
BREAKING NEWS!
Rustica will soon be opening its doors in a fourth location, in the Rialto Towers. Plans are set to unfold in the next few months, so stay tuned!
Rustica Hawthorn is located at 121 Power Street, Hawthorn.
