Road Trip Series – South Melbourne

Today I bring you another chapter to our road trip series, this time our destination is the lovely suburb of South Melbourne.

A day in the life of Melbourne Girl usually starts when my little man wakes up… The life of every mother I suppose! Wednesday morning was no different and after our ‘cuddles, breakfast and getting dressed’ routine, it was time for Jack to go to Childcare so that Mummy could get down to business.

Morning appointments meant a train-ride into the city, followed by some run around errands in Melbourne Central before 11am crept up and it was time to get myself over to South Melbourne for a lunch date with our girl Prue Chilcott.

The wonderful team at Flexicar provided me with a BMW 118i Hatch to trial, so I walked up to the Flexicar pod on Exhibition Street to pick up my ride.

Flexicar is a membership-based carshare company based right here in Melbourne, providing locals and visitors with convenient, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable access to a car without needing to personally own one.

Picking up my Beemer (aka BMW) was super-easy. As a new Flexicar member, the simple 3-step process of ‘Book, Swipe, Drive’ ensured I was on my way to meet Prue in a flash.

I love driving through our beautiful city, so I took the scenic route from the Flexicar pod along Collins Street, past Louis Vuitton and Chanel (keep driving and dreaming girl), before turning onto Spencer Street and out towards South Melbourne.

Tucked away in Yarra Street is the funky and thriving coffee house, St Ali. Situated just around the corner from Clarendon Street and set amongst plenty of street parking, the Cafe was the perfect meeting place for Prue and I to chat mumma life, blog goss and all things style.

St Ali served us up a delicious lunch. Teamed with an Espresso milkshake and lots of water for my post-gym lunch buddy, the food was fresh, the staff were friendly and the space was all so ‘Melbourne’.

With full bellies, Prue and I farewelled each other to head home to our bubs, but not before I took a drive along the beautiful Port Melbourne beach to soak up some more of the amazing sunshine. With spectacular views of the city, the beach is a must-see destination, especially in the summer time when the water is littered with boats and the sand covered in beach towels.

The drive was made even more special by my stylish wheels. A girl could get used to spinning around in a Beemer.
